News: Upton launched a homer as part of a four-run first inning for the Braves and finished 2-for-5 in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Nats. Impact: Upton's homer off the Nats' Taylor Jordan actually erased goose eggs in both the home run and RBI columns for the season. Saturday also marked just the second game this year in which the eldest Upton didn't strike out, so owners choosing to stick with him were happy to see that he didn't add to his 15 whiffs on the season.(RotoWire, )

News: Upton will bat second Thursday against the Mets. Impact: Apparently, manager Fredi Gonzalez isn't ready to remove Upton from the two-hole just yet, despite the fact that he's hitting .138 with 13 strikeouts and zero walks so far. The skipper did suggest Wednesday that Upton's leash in that spot has shortened, however, and if he continues to struggle, Upton and Andrelton Simmons could swap spots in the order.(RotoWire, )

News: Upton is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Mets, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Impact: With Upton off to another miserable start in 2014 (4-for-29, 13 strikeouts), it's worth wondering how long of a leash he may have from manager Fredi Gonzalez this time around. Upton showed some signs of breaking through in spring, but he's quickly fallen back into his hold bad habits at the plate.(RotoWire, )

News: Upton will be back in the Braves' lineup Thursday, but manager Fredi Gonzalez sounds open to the idea of leaving Andrelton Simmons in the two hole, MLB.com's Mark Bowman reports. Impact: Upton is out of the lineup Wednesday, with Jordan Schafer manning center field, but the key takeaway here is that the Braves may finally be coming around to the fact that Upton is not suited for the two hole. He has a 44.8 percent K-rate in 29 plate appearances so far this season, and is destroying the notion that he would be a changed man at the plate this season. We knew he'd have to get moved down in the order at some point if his struggles maintained, and it sounds like that time may have come.(RotoWire, )

News: Upton went 2-for-5 with a double and two strikeouts in Saturday's win over the Nationals. Impact: With two more strikeouts Saturday, Upton has now struck out multiple times in each of the team's first five games. He hasn't drawn a walk and is 3-for-21 with one extra-base hit. The 29-year-old has been batting second, as expected, but if he can't get on base or at least put the ball in play more often, manager Fredi Gonzalez will likely have to start considering a move down in the batting order.(RotoWire, )
