News: Qualls blew a save Saturday against the Athletics, allowing three runs on four hits and a walk in one-third of an inning. He struck out one. Impact: It was Qualls' first blown save of the season, but he'll need to bring down his 9.00 ERA and 2.80 WHIP to see more save opportunities in the Astros' closer-by-committee approach.(RotoWire, )

News: Qualls pitched a scoreless eighth inning in Thursday's 6-4 win at Toronto. Impact: Qualls was more effective than Josh Fields, who nearly blew a five-run lead in the ninth inning by allowing three runs. Both Qualls and Fields have one save apiece this season, although usage patterns seem to have favored Fields in the early going. In any event, Qualls should be in the mix for saves, especially if Fields is shaky again in his next outing.(RotoWire, )

News: Qualls earned the save Sunday against the Angels after recording the final two outs in the ninth inning. Impact: Of the two saves the Astros have generated over their first seven games, Qualls and Josh Fields each have one. Fields' save came April 2 against the Yankees, a game in which Qualls did not appear (he had pitched on April 1). Conversely, Qualls' save Sunday came in a game where the Astros had a six-run lead to begin the ninth inning, while Fields did not appear after he worked an inning in Saturday's contest. For now, the Astros appear content to use a committee to close out games.(RotoWire, )
