News: Izturis will sit out 4-to-6 months as a result of a torn ligament in his left knee, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet reports. Impact: The initial diagnosis of a sprain is in fact a tear of a ligament, no matter the size, but Izturis' has been determined to be a complete tear of his left LCL. While he intends to seek out a second opinion, surgery is all but assured for such a serious malady. For the time being, Jonathan Diaz should garner most of the reps at shortstop.(RotoWire, )

News: Izturis needs surgery for a tear in his left knee and could be out for the rest of the season. Impact: The 33-year-old Izturis was put on the disabled list Sunday after suffering his injury before a game in Baltimore. Toronto said Monday that he had a complete tear of the lateral collateral ligament. Izturis will seek a second opinion before setting the surgery. The team said the recovery time is about four to six months. Izturis is hitting .286 in 11 games.(STATS, 6:23pm)

News: Izturis was placed on the DL after leaving Sunday's game with a knee injury, John Lott of the National Post reports. Impact: With Izturis out of the lineup for a while, Jonathan Diaz will be the likely candidate for more playing time at shortstop. Luckily for Toronto, Jose Reyes doesn't look too far away from a return, and he will return to his everyday spot at short when he comes back.(RotoWire, )

News: Izturis was removed from Sunday's game due to a left knee sprain, John Lott of the National Post reports. Impact: Izturis was originally in the starting lineup, but never made it to the on-deck circle before being pulled from the game. Jonathan Diaz took his place in the lineup Sunday, and he could see some more playing time if Izturis has to miss a few days of work. Manager John Gibbons will likely provide more information on his condition following Sunday's game.(RotoWire, )

News: Izturis was in the starting lineup for Sunday's game, but he did not get into the on-deck circle for his first at-bat and was replaced by Jonathan Diaz, according to Shi Davidi of Sportsnet. Impact: Ryan Goins moved over to play shortstop with Diaz handling second base. No reason was given for the change, but presumably there is an injury or illness in play here.(RotoWire, )

News: Izturis made his fifth consecutive start at second base Friday against the Orioles. Impact: Izturis put up a second straight 0-for-4 performance, after starting the season 10-for-22. He's been batting second in the Blue Jays lineup -- right in front of Jose Bautista and Edwin Encarnacion -- but that probably won't last long. Jose Reyes (hamstring) seems to be nearing the start of a rehab assignment, and Izturis may have to split time with Ryan Goins at the keystone once the star shortstop returns. Goins, who was tabbed as the starting second baseman before the season, has been starting at shortstop against right-handed pitching in Reyes' absence. A Goins-Izturis platoon at second base is the most likely scenario once Reyes returns, but Goins hasn't exactly made a strong case to stick in the lineup, starting 1-for-22 at the plate.(RotoWire, )
