News: Sandoval will be bumped from the three to the five spot in the Giants' batting order Saturday against the Padres, CSN Bay Area reports. Impact: Panda has struggled mightily to start the season, managing just four RBI with runners in scoring position in 46 at-bats - a team low. His .179 average is well below his career mark of .295, and manager Bruce Bochy feels he has been too aggressive, commenting that Sandoval needs to "reel it in a bit." On the bright side, he's 12-for-22 lifetime against Padres starter Eric Stults, so perhaps he can string a few hits together Saturday at Petco Park to get back on track.(RotoWire, )

News: Sandoval may be dropped down in the batting order Friday against the Padres, CSN Bay Area reports. "Maybe I'll drop him down in the order," Giants manager Bruce Bochy said of Sandoval on Thursday. "I'll try to take some pressure off him. He's a good hitter and we need him." Impact: Sandoval's off to a slow start (11-for-63) in the three-hole, but his numbers don't hint at an underlying problem, and a drop in the batting order would very likely be temporary. Furthermore, he'd likely just be dropped to No. 5 or 6, not the bottom of the order. With three home runs, an 8:14 BB:K and a line-drive rate north of 20 percent, Sandoval should be fine in the long run. Whether he'll be more than fine remains to be seen, as he's hoping to bounce back from a down season in 2013.(RotoWire, )

News: Sandoval went 2-for-4 with a solo shot in Sunday's win over the Rockies. Impact: It is encouraging to see the power from Sandoval, but he has gotten off to a poor start in 2014 overall (.180, two homers, five RBI). The only positive that can be taken from Sandoval's early slump is that his OBP (.281) is over 100 points higher than his batting average, which shows that he is being patient and not pressing at the plate. Still, owners are going to want to see more production from the slugging third baseman, and Sunday's home run could finally wake his bat up.(RotoWire, )

News: Sandoval went yard for the first time in 2014, smacking a three-run shot in Saturday's win over the Dodgers. Impact: Sandoval has yet to get his bat going this season - batting just .150 (3-for-20) prior to Saturday's game - but this power showing could wake up the slumping slugger's bat.(RotoWire, )
