News: Cervelli will land on the disabled list due to his strained right hamstring, Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News reports. Impact: After falling to the ground while attempting to run out his own groundball Sunday versus the Red Sox, Cervelli's recovery is slated to last at least a month. The Yankees will almost certainly call up a catcher in the near future to back up starter Brian McCann, who is dealing with a finger injury of his own.(RotoWire, )

News: Cervelli will be put on the disabled list before Tuesday's game against the Chicago Cubs, a move that will be retroactive to Monday. Impact: Cervelli, playing at first base because of injuries to others, left in the fourth inning of a 3-2 win over Boston on Sunday after getting hurt running to first. While originally called out, Cervelli was ruled safe after a video review - giving New York its third run of the game. Cervelli had an MRI that showed a grade 2 right hamstring strain.(STATS, 5:15pm)

News: Cervelli left Sunday night's game against the Red Sox in the bottom of the fourth inning due to a hamstring injury, according to manager Joe Girardi on the game broadcast. Impact: It did not look like a minor variety, as Cervelli grabbed at his leg while running to first and immediately fell to the ground in pain. In the near term, the Yankees will keep their fingers crossed Brian McCann doesn't get hurt, as that would mean Dean Anna would be tossed into an emergency catching situation. Carlos Beltran has taken over for Cervelli at first. If there's a silver lining here, Cervelli was safe at first on the play (after replay) and received an RBI.(RotoWire, )
