News: Carp started in left field and was hitless in four at-bats in Wednesday night's win over the Yankees. With right-hander Michael Pineda on the hill, Boston manager John Farrell would normally start Daniel Nava, but he was optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket on Wednesday. Impact: Without Nava as an option, that leaves Carp as the left-handed option in an outfield job-share with Jonny Gomes. While Carp started Wednesday, he may not be in line for increased at-bats long-term because Nava's in Pawtucket. A returning Shane Victorino (hamstring) will add another piece to the outfield, as soon as Thursday. We suspect the default starting outfield going forward will include Victorino, Grady Sizemore and Jackie Bradley.(RotoWire, )

News: Carp had two hits, a walk and scored a run in Friday night's loss to Baltimore. Impact: Carp continues to hit in a small role, but his roster spot is in jeopardy when Shane Victorino (hamstring) gets healthy enough to be activated from the disabled list. It would appear either Carp or Daniel Nava (hitting just .136) is the likely casualty. Victorino is expected to begin a rehab assignment Saturday and could be ready to roll by mid-to-late next week.(RotoWire, )

News: Carp will start in left field Saturday against the Yankees, according to Alex Speier of WEEI.com. Impact: Grady Sizemore is getting a routine day off Saturday, and with right-hander Hiroki Kuroda on the bump, the left-handed hitting Carp gets the nod in left over Jonny Gomes.(RotoWire, )

News: Carp (back) received a pinch-hit at-bat in Wednesday's loss to the Rangers. Impact: Carp had not batted since being scratched with a sore back last Friday, but the pinch-hit opportunity he received Wednesday indicates he is feeling better. Carp is not starting Thursday against the Yankees, but he should be available moving forward.(RotoWire, )
