News: Desmond made his only hit of the night count Monday, launching a solo home run in the ninth inning. Impact: Desmond finds himself with a modest six-game hitting streak, though during that span he's just 6-for-23 (.261). The shortstop has four home runs and 13 RBI, however, and should be a good source of RBI and runs scored in the potent Washington lineup.(RotoWire, )

News: Desmond's early season struggles in the field continued Thursday as he committed two more errors, giving him seven in 16 games. Impact: He hasn't been much better at the plate either, slashing .226/.258/.403 in 62 at-bats. Something definitely seems to be amiss with Desmond but with Ryan Zimmerman on the DL and Danny Espinosa forced into full-time duty at second base, manager Matt Williams might not have the luxury of giving his starting shortstop a mental health break. Desmond owners will likely have to stick with him until he snaps out of his funk.(RotoWire, )

News: Desmond hit his second career grand slam to lead the Washington Nationals to a 7-1 win over Miami on Thursday and a three-game sweep. Impact: Desmond has a team-best three homers and eight RBIs for Washington this season. He's batting .318 (7 for 22) with two home runs and six RBIs in his last six games.(STATS, 6:17pm)

News: Desmond went 2-for-4 with a grand slam in Thursday's win over Miami. Impact: He's off to a middling start, with just a .257 average so far, but a couple more games like this will bring that up quickly. Nonetheless, his 1:11 BB:K so far is even worse than his usually unimpressive plate-discipline stats.(RotoWire, )
