News: D-Backs pitching coach Mike Harkey believes that Arroyo was rushed back from his back injury during spring training, the Arizona Republic reports. "You have to give him the benefit of the doubt when you're talking about where he is physically," Harkey said. "As far as his arm is concerned, nobody knows better than him what it takes for him to get ready. In hindsight, I wish I could have got him more innings and more time on the mound before we got him out there against the Giants (on April 3), but it is what it is, and now we have to deal with it." Impact: As noted in the Arizona Republic story, Arroyo's average fastball velocity is lower (86.3 mph) than it has been during the first month of the season in six years, which could be an indication that he's still in the process of building up arm strength. Arroyo will look to get back on track in his next start Saturday against the Phillies at Chase Field.(RotoWire, )

News: Arroyo was a disaster Tuesday, getting shelled for nine earned runs on 10 hits in just 3.1 innings of work by the Mets. Impact: Surprisingly, this was Arroyo's first loss of the season, despite having now allowed 21 hits and 14 earned runs in less than 13 innings with his new team. The former Red's ERA is up to a humongous 9.95 and he should be avoided at all costs until he stops serving up beach balls, and starts missing some bats.(RotoWire, )

News: Arroyo was staked to an early lead and earned his first win with the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday, 7-3 over San Francisco. Impact: Arroyo had a no-decision against the Giants last Thursday. The right-hander allowed six hits and three runs, struck out two and walked one. He beat the Giants twice last season, including a seven-hitter on the road last July 22 with the Reds for his sixth career shutout in an 11-0 victory.(STATS, 7:15pm)
