Impact: The slumping Jason Heyward will get a night off and Simmons will replace him atop the batting order. Simmons is no stranger to the leadoff spot, as he logged 283 at-bats there last season, but he posted just a .588 OPS in those at-bats and will likely occupy a bottom-third spot more often than not.(RotoWire, )

News: Simmons had a very solid night at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a solo home run in Monday's 9-6 victory over the Phillies. Impact: Simmons continues his offensive roll here in the early going of 2014. The slick-fielding shortstop is now fashioning a cool .341 batting average and has still yet to strike out over his first 41 at-bats of the campaign. In addition, Simmons' incredible .610 slugging percentage is largely the result of two homers and a couple of triples through just 11 games. Already a premier defensive player, the 24-year-old native of Curacao is making his way up the overall list of shortstops in the league.(RotoWire, )

News: Simmons is batting second for the Braves on Wednesday with B.J. Upton out of the lineup, and he may hold on to that spot in the order, MLB.com's Mark Bowman reports. Impact: Manager Fredi Gonzalez seems to be warming to the idea of putting Braves fans out of their misery and moving Upton down in the order, and Simmons is as good an option as anyone to take over that spot. This should give Simmons a slight bump in runs and he could start seeing some better pitches to hit, if indeed he does remain in the two hole going forward.(RotoWire, )
