News: Barnes went 2-for-5 with a run scored in Friday's loss to the Giants. Impact: Making his third start of the season in center field, Barnes occupied the top spot in the order for the Rockies and didn't do much to disappoint. He'll see prime real estate in the team's lineup any time he starts, but Charlie Blackmon, who leads the league with a .486 batting average, maintains control of the center field job for the time being.(RotoWire, )

News: Entering the game in the seventh inning Friday, Barnes contributed a triple and a walk in his two plate appearances. Impact: Barnes had the most impressive spring training of any of the four Rockies competing for the team's center field gig, but he's seen less plate appearances through five games than Charlie Blackmon and Drew Stubbs. Those two players would seem to have the inside track on playing time if manager Walt Weiss decides to go with a hard platoon in center field. It certainly doesn't help Barnes' cause that Blackmon went 6-for-6 in Friday's game, potentially opening the door for him to keep the job all to himself.(RotoWire, )
