News: Janssen (back) will be sidelined at least an additional two weeks due to his lower back strain and abdominal concern, Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com reports. Impact: The Blue Jays shut down Janssen's rehab assignment Thursday due to renewed discomfort, pushing back his next possible appearance to early May. He'll now rejoin the team in order to continue his recovery, which will include bullpen sessions and another rehab assignment. Meanwhile, the development could force the team to stick with his replacement, Sergio Santos, for the long haul, even when Janssen is healthy enough for major league action.(RotoWire, )

News: Janssen has been temporarily shut down due to lower-back soreness, Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com reports. Impact: Renewed back discomfort will force Janssen to cease throwing for at least a few days, meaning any hope of a return this weekend has been dashed. The right-hander just made his first rehab appearance Tuesday, allowing one hit while striking out one in one inning of work for High-A Dunedin. While there's a chance this ends up being a relatively short delay, it will buy Sergio Santos some additional time in the closer's role.(RotoWire, )

News: Janssen (back) pitched one inning for High-A Dunedin on Tuesday, and allowed one hit while notching one strikeout, MLB.com's Gregor Chisholm reports. Impact: He could be back for this weekend's series against the Indians, as he seems to be moving along nicely in his rehab. It's not clear if he'll slot right back in as the closer in Toronto, or if the Blue Jays will give him a couple outings to get his bearings, but he should get the job back in due time.(RotoWire, )

News: Manager John Gibbons said Janssen (back) could be back for next weekend's series in Cleveland, John Lott of the National Post reports. Impact: The news is good concerning Janssen, and he should ultimately take the closer's role back, whether it be immediately or after a couple of outings.(RotoWire, )

News: Janssen (back) felt good after throwing a bullpen session Saturday, and if he feels fine Sunday, he will head out on a rehab assignment, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports. Impact: Saturday's bullpen marked the first time Janssen "really aired it out," according to Davidi, and it seems that the right-hander was pleased with the results. Janssen is only expected to need one or two rehab appearances, either at Triple-A Buffalo or High-A Dunedin, depending on the weather, so an activation next week seems likely.(RotoWire, )

News: Janssen (back) will be available to throw a side session Saturday, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet reports. Impact: After Saturday's session, the Jays will have a good read regarding a potential rehab assignment for Janssen. Presumably, Janssen will eventually return to the closer role, but the team has not provided any concrete plans while Sergio Santos has pitched very well in Janssen's absence.(RotoWire, )

News: Janssen (back), who will throw on the side Wednesday, is expected to make an appearance in 1-to-2 rehab games, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet reports. Impact: Janssen will cut it close to 15 days in his recovery from a lower back strain, so he may not return when immediately eligible on Apr. 13. As long as he's sidelined, Sergio Santos will handle save chances for the Blue Jays.(RotoWire, )
