News: Wang tossed seven scoreless innings on seven hits and two walks while striking out five during Toronto's triumph Sunday at Texas. Impact: Wang earned his first win since June 12, 2012, twirling a gem in the process. Since he joined the Blue Jays on June 9 of this year, he has lasted at least seven innings in two appearances, effectively supplying rest for the bullpen. If the current schedule holds form, he is slated to take the hill Saturday versus the Orioles, against whom he carries an unsavory 5.91 ERA and 1.63 WHIP in 56.1 career innings.(RotoWire, )

News: Wang will make his next start Sunday against the Rangers, TSN Radio 1050 reports Impact: Manager John Gibbons wasn't initially sure where Wang would slot in after he went 7.1 innings in his first start with the club Tuesday, but after Josh Johnson was bumped back from Sunday to Monday as he tends to a blister on his pitching hand, a spot opened up for Wang. He'll need to be an effective innings-eater to ensure his spot in the rotation.(RotoWire, )

News: Wang agreed to a one-year contract with the Toronto Blue Jays and was set to start Tuesday night against the Chicago White Sox. Impact: Wang will be paid at a rate of $500,000 this season while in the major leagues and $90,000 while in the minors. The deal does not contain any performance bonuses. The 33-year-old right-hander was 4-4 with a 2.33 ERA in nine starts this year for the New York Yankees' Triple-A team at Scranton-Wilkes-Barre. The Yankees released him last week at his request.(STATS, 3:24pm)
June 9, 2013
News: The Blue Jays have officially announced the signing of Wang, the National Post reports. He has been named the starter for Tuesday's game against the White Sox. Impact: Wang opted out of his minor league deal with the Yankees after going 4-4 with a 2.33 ERA over four starts, allowing the pitching-bereft Blue Jays to scoop him up. Wang's last go-around in the majors with the Nationals last season was disastrous (6.68 ERA, 2.01 WHIP), so it's probably best to take a wait-and-see approach before streaming him.(RotoWire, )

News: Pitcher Chien-Ming Wang opted out of his minor league contract with the New York Yankees and plans to sign with the Toronto Blue Jays. Agent Al Nero said the agreement with Toronto was in the process of being finalized. The Blue Jays' 4.56 ERA is 28th in the major leagues. Impact: Wang signed with the Yankees on March 23, and the 33-year-old right-hander was 4-4 with a 2.33 ERA in nine starts for Triple-A Scranton-Wilkes Barre. New York released him Friday. He originally signed with the Yankees in 2000 and went 55-26 in five seasons. Wang has been slowed by injuries since then, starting when he injured his foot in 2008. Wang was 2-6 with a 6.68 ERA in 10 games last year in his third season with Washington.(STATS, 3:26pm)

News: Wang will sign with the Blue Jays and is expected to start Tuesday against the White Sox, Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports. Impact: Earlier Friday, Wang opted out of his deal with the Yankees, and he'll now head to Toronto for a major league opportunity. It seems the Blue Jays may have changed their minds in regards to calling up Chad Jenkins and starting him Tuesday against the White Sox, as that job is now expected to go to Wang. The 33-year-old right-hander pitched pretty well with the Yankees' Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre affiliate to begin the year, with a 2.33 ERA over nine starts, but he did strike out just 25 batters over 58.0 innings.(RotoWire, )
