News: The Braves are placing Jones on the 15-day disabled list with a bruised left leg. Impact: Manager Fredi Gonzalez says the team has to make the move because it needs the roster spot to call up a catcher. Backup catcher David Ross left Friday night's 7-4 loss to Washington with a right groin strain. Jones missed his seventh straight start with swelling and discoloration in his left foot, ankle and calf. He was hit by a grounder May 18 at Tampa Bay.(STATS, 12:58pm)

News: Jones (calf) will be placed on the 15 day DL on Friday, the Braves' official Twitter feed writes. Impact: After spending the beginning of the year on the DL recovering from knee surgery, Jones had seemed to channel his younger self and was putting up a solid line of fiver homers with 24 RBI and a .307 average. However, it looks like his calf is the issue now and he will spend time on the bench to recover. Look for Eric Hinske and Juan Francisco to split time while Chipper is out of the lineup.(RotoWire, )

News: Jones (calf) is unlikely to play or even pinch-hit before Wednesday or Thursday barring rapid improvement, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports. Impact: In addition to a contusion, Jones has a large blister on the same area at the present time. Owners in weekly leagues should plan on going another direction if possible, as it sounds like a partial week out of Jones is a best-case scenario.(RotoWire, )

News: Jones left Friday's win over the Rays due to a bruised left calf, the Associated Press reports. Impact: Jones is certainly going to do the best he can to get his name in as many RotoWire updates as possible before he retires, both through his fine play when he's healthy and his frequent maladies otherwise. Most of his issues have been with his surgically repaired knee on his right leg, however, so perhaps the fact that it's his calf this time - he was hit by a batted ball - might be a relief. Jones is day-to-day.(RotoWire, )
