News: Rusin was optioned to Triple-A Iowa after Saturday's loss in St. Louis, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports. Impact: Called up for the sole purpose of long relief, Rusin didn't disappoint, giving up just one run on three hits and one walk, while striking out one in five innings. Note that he followed Carlos Villanueva, who was absolutely obliterated by the Cardinals to the tune of nine runs on 10 base knocks across three frames. Nevertheless, Rusin will head back to the minors having proved a point: that he can handle a major league lineup, and one of the most potent at that.(RotoWire, )

News: Rusin was called up by the Cubs on Saturday, according to Carrie Muskat of MLB.com. Impact: Rusin was used as a starter in Triple-A but wasn't been very effective, posting a 6.52 ERA in two appearances. He'll provide an extra arm for the bullpen and likely work in long relief during this stint with the Cubs.(RotoWire, )

News: Rusin gave up five runs on six hits and walked four in 3.2 innings for Triple-A Iowa on Thursday. Impact: There was some speculation that Rusin would start for the Cubs on Sunday with scheduled starter Carlos Villanueva already appearing twice in relief, but Rusin's Thursday appearance puts the kibosh on that plan.(RotoWire, )
