News: Buchholz regained some of velocity in his second start, hitting 94 mph on his fastball, the Providence Journal reports. "My arm strength and everything, it got a lot better within a five-day span," he said. "Usually it doesn't happen that quick. I felt a lot more comfortable with each pitch out there tonight." Impact: Buchholz relied heavily on the cutter, had a sharp curveball and used the changeup frequently, getting strikes with all of them. He's not out of the woods yet, but be cautiously optimistic.(RotoWire, )

News: Buchholz took the loss against the Yankees on Thursday, but pitched well, allowing four runs -- two earned -- and seven hits in six innings. He did not walk a batter and struck out six. Impact: Buchholz's velocity appeared to be more in his normal range, which is great news considering it was way down in his first start. It's probably best to keep an eye on Buchholz and his velocity over his next couple of starts, but it probably won't be much of an issue.(RotoWire, )

News: Manager John Farrell is not concerned with Buchholz's reduced velocity, CSN New England reports. "It was [expected]," Farrell said of Buchholz's velocity, which topped out in the low 90s a handful of times in a 7-6 loss to the Brewers. "Just going back to Saturday night, that was location-related if you ask me." Impact: Buchholz allowed six runs on 13 hits in 4.1 innings Saturday night and Farrell thought location was a bigger cause of the poor results. The manager added that Buchholz will make his next scheduled start and will throw his normal bullpen Tuesday.(RotoWire, )

News: Buchholz struggled in his season debut Saturday against Milwaukee but avoided his second loss in two campaigns. Impact: The Boston right-hander was tagged for six runs and a career-high 13 hits in 4 1-3 innings. A Red Sox rally rescued Buchholz, who was 12-1 with a 1.74 ERA in an injury-plagued 2013 season, from matching his loss total from all of last year.(STATS, 4:08pm)

News: The Brewers pounded Buchholz for 13 hits and six runs over 4.1 innings Saturday night. Buchholz struggled with his command and his velocity, the Providence Journal reports. "I was basically missing in the middle of the plate or missing up, and that's where their hits came off," Buchholz said. "I don't think I threw one good pitch that they hit." Impact: Buchholz's fastball sat around 89-90 mph Saturday night, compared to the 92-95 mph range he had early last season when he got off to a blazing start. This is the same velocity he had in October when he was getting hit around, too.(RotoWire, )
