News: Gentry had three hits and two runs scored in Tuesday night's win over the Angels. Impact: Gentry got another start in center field as Coco Crisp is still nursing a couple of injuries and he took full advantage. Gentry will be a nice source of cheap speed in deeper leagues when he manages to find his way into the lineup.(RotoWire, )

News: Gentry will play center field Tuesday and bat eighth against the Angels, the San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser reports. Impact: Coco Crisp (hamstring) remains out with a hamstring injury, so Gentry gets another start. Even upon Crisp's impending return, Gentry should still offer value in deep leagues because of his speed, even though he won't play every day.(RotoWire, )

News: Gentry is leading off and playing center field Monday night against the Angels. Impact: Gentry is making his first start for the A's after the offseason trade from the Rangers. Gentry will start against most lefties either in center field or at DH and with Coco Crisp not 100 percent right now, he could find himself in the lineup more often in the short term. He will slide into the fourth outfielder role when Crisp is healthy.(RotoWire, )

News: According to manager Bob Melvin, Gentry will be in the starting lineup for two of three games against the Angels next week, John Hickey of the Oakland Tribune reports. Impact: Gentry has yet to take to the field in 2014, after dealing with a lower-back issue throughout spring training. He has been cleared to play and is currently fourth on Oakland's outfield depth chart, so it's possible he'll see some game action before the series with the Angels starts Monday.(RotoWire, )

News: Gentry (back) was activated from the disabled list Saturday, reports. Impact: A lower back strain caused Gentry to miss nearly all of spring training, but he's ready to go after a minor league rehab assignment. He's not in the lineup Saturday against Mariners right-hander Erasmo Ramirez, but Gentry could be a defensive replacement late in the game. He's now the team's top reserve outfield option, after Sam Fuld was designated for assignment.(RotoWire, )

News: Although he wasn't activated from the disabled list Friday, manager Bob Melvin said there's a "good chance" Gentry will be back Saturday,'s Jane Lee reports. Impact: The team decided to wait one more day for Gentry to recover the injury, allowing the team to buy time while it ponders what roster move to make to accommodate his return. Most likely, Sam Fuld will be designated for assignment to clear up a spot for Gentry on the 25-man roster.(RotoWire, )

News: Gentry (back) will likely be activated from the 15-day disabled list Friday, the Bay Area News Group reports. Impact: Gentry's strained lower back has waned, and he could be activated Thursday, but considering the Athletics will soon be traveling to Seattle, and his rehab assignment is taking place in the PCL, there is no need for him to fly to Minneapolis for one game. Thus, expect the reserve outfielder to be back with the big club by week's end.(RotoWire, )

News: Gentry (back) will likely need two minor league rehab games before returning to the Athletics, Joe Stiglich of reports. Impact: Gentry has been limited by a back injury all spring and was recently away from baseball for a few days for paternity leave. Oakland will look to give him a few minor league starts to get his timing back and ensure his health before allowing him to return to the major league roster. He'll serve as a backup in left and center field once he makes his return.(RotoWire, )
Fri. Apr 4, 2014
News: A's manager Bob Melvin says that Gentry (back) may need some more games in the minors after returning from paternity leave Friday, Joe Stiglich of reports. Impact: Gentry had made solid progress during his rehab work and appeared to be close to a return from the back injury that sidelined him this spring. The paternity leave was just three days, so the team wants him to play in a game or two just to be sure he is injury free. He remains on track for a mid-April return.(RotoWire, )

News: Gentry (back), who is currently on paternity leave, still doesn't have a clear return date, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Impact: A strained lower back didn't allow for a single appearance in the Cactus League this spring, and the Athletics aren't sure how much more time Gentry will require before making his Athletics debut. More than likely, he'll fit in a few games at one of the team's minor league affiliates upon his activation from the paternity list Saturday, but even when healthy, he's a depth outfielder that will be hard-pressed to eek out regular playing time.(RotoWire, )

News: Gentry (back) will be held out of his rehab work for a few days, as his wife will soon give birth to their child,'s Jane Lee reports. Impact: He opened the season on the disabled list recovering from a lower-back strain, which has kept him out longer than anticipated. The A's have plenty of outfield depth at the moment, so Gentry won't be rushed back.(RotoWire, )
