News: Chavez will get his first start of the season Wednesday in San Francisco, the Diamondbacks' official Twitter feed reports. Impact: He will man third base and bat fourth, so he's in an optimal spot to drive in some runs. He only saw 254 plate appearances last season with the D-Backs, but he hit nine home runs in limited playing time, so there's the potential for sneaky production on the occasional days when he's in the lineup. For his career, he's 2-for-3 with a double and two walks against Giants' starter Tim Lincecum, which may explain why he's getting the nod.(RotoWire, )

News: Chavez, who has been limited to five late-inning appearances this season, could pick up a few extra starts in the near future, if Martin Prado's finger injury causes him to miss time. Impact: Prado left Friday's game with a laceration, so it may not be more than a day or two, before he's ready to rejoin the D-Backs' starting lineup. However, with Arizona on the road in Colorado through Sunday, Chavez might be an intriguing spot duty option, if he does see a temporary bump in playing time.(RotoWire, )
