News: Although he struck out seven Saturday, Kennedy also allowed four runs on eight hits in six innings of work in a 6-2 loss to the Tigers. His record fell to 1-2 on the season. Impact: That's 16 hits and 16 strikeouts in 17 innings this year, and he now has a 4.24 ERA and 1.12 WHIP. Part of the issue against Detroit was his ability to toss just 15-of-28 first pitch strikes, causing him to get behind in the count more often than desired. The good news is he's only allowed a single homer on the season, so he's been able to limit the damage.(RotoWire, )

Impact: Kennedy allowed one run and three hits in six innings for the Padres, who snapped a four-game slide. He also struck out five. Kennedy is 1-1 with a 3.27 ERA in his first two starts this season.(STATS, 6:19pm)

News: Kennedy was dealing Sunday, allowing one run on three hits and one walk, while striking out five in six frames, during a victory at Miami. Impact: Kennedy notched his first quality start of the season during the 96-pitch outing and has now tallied a 9:2 K:BB in 11 innings through his initial two nods. The ratio is a vast improvement upon his 10 starts post-trade deadline with the Padres last year, when he struck out 55 versus 25 walks in 57.1 innings. With better control, he could bounce back to his Cy Young worthy season from 2011, but his upcoming matchup Saturday versus the Tigers isn't the most friendly, especially considering his career splits against them: seven earned runs on 11 hits and a 6:3 K:BB in 11.1 innings across two games.(RotoWire, )

News: Kennedy gave up three runs on five hits and one walk with four strikeouts in five innings Tuesday, taking the loss against the Dodgers. Impact: Save for a high fastball that Yasiel Puig pummeled for a two-run home run in the first inning, Kennedy was quite solid. It was a mistake pitch because Puig was batting, and his bat speed allows him to get around on a 94 mph fastball above the zone. It's also a little discouraging that he needed 103 pitches in five innings against the Dodgers, but the walk and strikeout totals were solid, and he'll look to keep the ball in the ballpark in his next outing Sunday in Miami.(RotoWire, )
