News: Heyward went 3-for-6 with a double and a run scored Sunday afternoon against the Mets. Impact: Heyward was given Friday off, but has four hits since returning to the lineup. News: Heyward is not in the starting lineup Friday against the Mets, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports. Impact: The 24-year-old has struggled out of the gate for a second year in a row, with just a .136 average in 59 at-bats for the season and one extra-base hit in his last seven games. He actually owns a 9-for-24 career record (.375 average) against lefty Jon Niese, Friday's starter for the Mets, but manager Fredi Gonzalez evidently thinks Heyward needs a day to regroup. Niese broke Heyward's jaw last season, but Gonzalez was adamant that it didn't factor into his decision. Andrelton Simmons will lead off for Atlanta, while Ryan Doumit mans right field.(RotoWire, )

News: Heyward went 0-for-4 out of the leadoff spot Thursday against the Phillies, dropping his average to .136. Impact: When B.J. Upton's got a higher average than you do, you know you're in trouble. The only positive for Heyward in this game is that at least he made contact all four times up -- he's got more than twice as many strikeouts (17) as hits (eight) so far this year.(RotoWire, )

News: Heyward homered and drove in two runs and the Braves held off the New York Mets 4-3 on Wednesday night. He doubled his hits total with the homer and two singles in his first three at-bats.(STATS, 7:05pm)

News: Heyward was 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI Wednesday night against the Mets. Impact: Heyward was just 4-for-28 prior to this game to start the season, so Wednesday's performance should result in a surge of confidence for the Braves' leadoff man. His home run to lead off the bottom of the first was his second this season, and helped raise his OPS to .653 over the Braves' first eight games.(RotoWire, )
