News: Astros' general manager Jeff Luhnow said Williams or Brad Peacock will likely take Lucas Harrell's spot in the starting rotation, MLB.com's Brian McTaggart reports. Impact: Harrell was designated for assignment late Tuesday night, which left a vacancy in the Astros' starting rotation. Of the two pitchers likely to replace him, Williams has far more experience, with 117 career starts compared to 16 for Brad Peacock. Astros' manager Bo Porter has yet to make an official announcement regarding Harrell's replacement, however.(RotoWire, )

News: Williams will test his injured groin Friday, Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle reports. Impact: Fellow reliever Matt Albers will return from paternity leave Friday, and the Astros want to gauge whether they'll be placing Williams on the disabled list or opening up a roster spot through other means. Williams left Wednesday's game with a groin strain, after tossing 1.1 shutout innings. In his previous appearance, he was shelled for six runs over 3.2 innings in an 11-1 blowout loss. Williams' job is mostly just to eat innings when the Astros' starter is chased early, as he's never been particularly effective when it comes to getting batters out.(RotoWire, )
