News: Nathan allowed three earned runs to the Dodgers on Wednesday en route to his second blown save of the season, though he did pick up a vulture win after the Tigers rallied in the 10th inning. Impact: Nathan is off to a horrible start to this year. Along with the two blown saves, he also has a 12.27 ERA. Nathan's job is safe despite the struggles thus far, though this dead-arm period is troublesome.(RotoWire, )

News: Nathan said Wednesday that he is dealing with a dead arm, reports. "It's not an injury," Nathan said. "It's something that every pitcher goes through every year. It's not even newsworthy, so you guys shouldn't even waste your time writing about dead arm, because it's basically like knowing there's second base on the field." Impact: The 39-year-old hasn't been especially sharp thus far, with two runs allowed and a blown save in three appearances, but he was adamant that the dead arm is non-issue. Nathan didn't even tell manager Brad Ausmus about the dead arm, and laughed it off when asked whether it would prevent Ausmus from using him in a save siutation. The right-hander stressed that the only way to get through a dead arm phase is to keep pitching.(RotoWire, )

News: Nathan blew a save opportunity against the Royals on Wednesday after giving up a run on one hit and a pair of walks. Impact: The Tigers managed to plate the game-winning run in the 10th inning, but Nathan's blown save cost Max Scherzer a victory after an impressive eight-inning shutout performance. Nathan should have plenty of leash as the Tigers' closer role, however, as the hope in signing him was that he might eliminate some of the ninth-inning woes that have plagued the team in recent seasons.(RotoWire, )
