News: Hanrahan's flexor muscle has torn off the bone, and he will undergo season-ending surgery to repair it, Nick Cafardo of The Boston Globe reports. Impact: Once the procedure is performed by Dr. James Andrews, a timetable for Hanrahan's return next season should become more clear. News: Hanrahan (forearm) has been diagnosed with a flexor tendon injury and will have to decide between Tommy John surgery or rest and rehab, Michael Silverman of the Boston Herald reports. Either way, Hanrahan is expected to miss multiple months. Impact: Friday's meeting with the renowned Dr. James Andrews resulted in the diagnosis of a flexor tendon injury, and now Hanrahan faces the tough choice of either going under the knife or trying to heal the ailment with rest and rehab. The danger with taking the rest and rehab route is, of course, that surgery could still end up being necessary after all if the rest and rehab don't do the trick.(RotoWire, )

News: The Red Sox transferred Hanrahan (forearm) to the 60-day disabled list Thursday, CSN's Seam McAdam reports. Impact: Concern regarding Hanrahan's injury was minimal at first, but with him visiting Dr. James Andrews on Friday, and being moved to the 60-day DL, it appears his setback is more serious than originally expected.
