News: Giavotella was optioned to Triple-A Omaha on Saturday. Impact: Giavotella was brought up earlier in the week as insurance for Omar Infante, who was hit in the face by a pitch during Monday's game, but Infante returned to action Friday and appears to be fine. Danny Duffy was recalled to take Giavotella's spot on the active roster.(RotoWire, )

News: Giavotella was called up from Triple-A Omaha on Wednesday, Josh Vernier of 610 Kansas City reports. He will play second base and bat second in Wednesday's game against the Rays. Impact: Starting second baseman Omar Infante is still sore after taking a pitch to the face in Monday's game, so the Royals called up Giavotella to give the team another option at second base. It's not clear how much longer Infante will be sidelined -- he is not expected to require a stint on the disabled list -- but Giavotella figures to see most of the starts at second base until Infante returns to the lineup.(RotoWire, )

News: Giavotella was not in the lineup Tuesday at Triple-A Omaha, and will likely be recalled by the Royals for Wednesday's game, with Omar Infante (mouth) likely sidelined for a couple games, the Kansas City Star's Andy McCullough reports. Impact: Infante did not play Tuesday, with Danny Valencia manning second base, but it would make sense that the Royals would prefer to get a more natural defender at the position in the lineup.(RotoWire, )

News: Giavotella could be a potential option for a call-up if Omar Infante (mouth) lands on the disabled list, the Kansas City Star reports. Impact: Giavotella was beat out by Omar Infante for the second base job in camp, but seeing as the Royals are without a backup middle infielder on their roster, his name may be called if a roster spot frees up. Christian Colon is another potential candidate, but Giavotella is off to a hotter start for Triple-A Omaha, going 7-for-19 with five doubles in his first five games.(RotoWire, )
