News: Broxton picked up his second save of the year Friday against the Cubs, striking out two while walking one. Impact: If needed, Broxton probably could pitch Saturday, as the Reds were off Thursday and Johnny Cueto pitched a complete game Wednesday. He threw 15 pitches, 10 for strikes, to complete Friday's save.(RotoWire, )

News: Broxton locked up his first save of the season Tuesday, giving up a hit and a walk without letting any runners score against the Pirates. Impact: Meanwhile Aroldis Chapman is progressing very well in his recovery, and could be back in the closer's role for the Reds in a matter of weeks. Broxton should get most, if not all, of the save opportunities before Chapman's return, but he's definitely just a short-term option for those chasing saves.(RotoWire, )

News: Broxton pitched a scoreless ninth inning Friday, allowing one walk while striking out two in a non-save situation against the Rays. Impact: He entered the game in the ninth with the Reds trailing 2-0 as he made his first 2014 appearance. He missed the first couple weeks and was just activated from the disabled list Tuesday. He is expected to fill the closer's role for Cincinnati until Aroldis Chapman returns, probably later this month.(RotoWire, )
