News: Nieuwenhuis had a day in his season debut Tuesday, going 3-for-5 with a homer and three RBI in a 9-0 blowout of the Diamondbacks. Impact: Niewenhuis carried his strong play from Triple-A Las Vegas right into his first game of the season with the Mets, cashing in the third, fourth and fifth runs of the game on a single in the first and a two-run bomb in the fourth. With injuries to Juan Lagares (hamstring) and Chris Young (quad), it looks as though Nieuwenhuis could get another shot to play his way into a permanent spot with the Mets after bouncing between the minors for the entirety of his three-year career.(RotoWire, )
