News: Calhoun (ankle) is expected to miss 4-to-6 weeks, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports. Impact: Calhoun twisted his right ankle in Tuesday's loss the the A's, and manager Mike Scioscia said Wednesday that the 26-year-old has a badly strained ligament. The team wasted little time in placing Calhoun on the 15-day disabled list and bringing Brennan Boesch up to help fill the void in the outfield. Collin Cowgill figures to see the bulk of the work in right field while Calhoun is on the shelf.(RotoWire, )

News: Calhoun will be placed on the disabled list after twisting his right ankle in a loss to the A's on Tuesday, Pedro Moura of the Orange County Register reports. Impact: It was a rough way to end the night for Calhoun, who rolled his ankle after being thrown out at first base in the 11th inning. There is no word yet on the severity of the injury, but the news of a trip to the DL is unfortunate for the 26-year-old, as he was just starting to catch fire after a slow start to the season, notching his third consecutive multi-hit game Tuesday, while going 7-for-15 over that span.(RotoWire, )

News: Calhoun appeared to turn an ankle and had to be helped off the field after grounding out in the 11th inning of Tuesday night's game against the A's. Impact: Calhoun had a three-hit night prior to the injury. He hurt himself lunging for first base to try to beat out the grounder.(RotoWire, )

News: Calhoun will bat fifth Sunday against the Mets, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports. Impact: Calhoun has bounced around the lineup quite a bit recently, as he hit ninth against the Mets with a left-hander on the mound Saturday. Manager Mike Scioscia said that Calhoun's swing isn't right at the moment, but the Angels are trying some different configurations with Josh Hamilton (thumb) on the disabled list and most of the team struggling at the plate.(RotoWire, )

News: Calhoun went 2-for-5 with a double, a triple, and two runs scored in a win over the Mets on Sunday. Impact: Calhoun thrived in his first start in the five-hole Sunday, picking up his first triple of the year in the contest. It's unclear if the Angels intend on returning him to the leadoff spot soon, as he batted ninth against a left-hander Saturday.(RotoWire, )

News: Calhoun will bat ninth Saturday against Mets lefty Jon Niese. Impact: Calhoun led off against a left-hander Tuesday and batted sixth against another one Wednesday, but he'll fall all the way down to ninth Saturday. Chances are, the 26-year-old will continue to bat leadoff against right-handers moving forward, but it's looking like he may occupy one of the bottom three spots in the order against southpaws.(RotoWire, )

News: Calhoun will likely continue to bat leadoff while Josh Hamilton (thumb) is out, Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com reports. Impact: Calhoun is batting sixth Wednesday, but it sounds like manager Mike Scioscia will keep him atop the order more often than not. Mike Trout is reportedly not a candidate to bat third while Hamilton is out -- he's expected to miss 6-to-8 weeks -- so the Angels will probably go with Albert Pujols, David Freese and Raul Ibanez in the three, four and five holes, respectively.(RotoWire, )

News: Calhoun will bat sixth Wednesday against the Mariners, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports. Impact: Calhoun was atop the batting order in each of the team's first eight games to begin the season, but he'll move down to the six-hole Wednesday as Colin Cowgill leads off. It looks like the Angels may lean on Calhoun as more of an RBI producer while Josh Hamilton (thumb) is on the shelf.(RotoWire, )

News: Calhoun went 1-for-3 with a home run, two walks and three runs scored in a win over the Astros on Monday. Impact: Calhoun is off to a slow start this season, hitting just .179 in his first seven games, but displayed the power and plate discipline that could make him a fantasy asset in 2014 on Monday. Calhoun was able to score three of the Angels' nine runs in the contest, and looks to be fully capable of taking advantage of the leadoff spot for the Halos.(RotoWire, )

News: Calhoun is back in the starting lineup Sunday against the Astros, Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com reports. Impact: Calhoun did not start Saturday's game, but came in after lefty starter Dallas Keuchel was removed and went 1-for-2 with an RBI and his first stolen base of the season.(RotoWire, )
Sat. Apr 5, 2014
News: Calhoun isn't in the Angels' lineup Saturday in Houston. Impact: Calhoun has hit leadoff and covered right field in each of the first four games, but he'll now hand off both to Collin Cowgill. Despite starting the season with an underwhelming (to say the least) slash line of .167/.167/.389 in 18 at-bats, Calhoun has posted hits in three of his appearances.(RotoWire, )
Fri. Apr 4, 2014
News: Calhoun went 1-for-6 with a two-run home run in an 11-1 trouncing of the Astros on Friday. Impact: Calhoun has scuffled out of the gate in 2013 after being handed the leadoff spot this spring, notching just three hits in his first 18 at-bats. Calhoun may have done a bit to quiet the demons Friday, but a 1-for-6 performance isn't exactly something to get excited about.(RotoWire, )
