News: Teixeira (hamstring) went 2-for-6 at the dish in his return to the lineup Sunday against the Rays. Impact: Teixeira looked good in his first game back from the disabled list, singling in his first at-bat of the afternoon and supplying another single later in the contest. While it's difficult to imagine him reemerging as the vaunted power threat he was in his earlier seasons with the Yankees, the 34-year-old should still be an above-average source of home runs at his position now that he's apparently healthy.(RotoWire, )

News: Teixeira (hamstring) was activated from the 15-day DL on Sunday, Ken Davidoff of the New York Post reports. He's back in Sunday's lineup, batting fifth and playing first base. Impact: After a hamstring injury has forced him to miss the last 15 games, Teixeira will provide some needed power to the New York lineup. His return probably bumps Kelly Johnson back to bench duty.(RotoWire, )

News: Teixeira (hamstring) played in an extended spring training game Friday, and emerged free of setbacks, the New York Post reports. "I couldn't be happier with how it's progressing," Teixeria stated afterwards. Impact: Teixeira played in the field for the outing, and went 1-for-5 at the plate with a single and a strikeout. He was able to make solid contact Friday, grounding out, lining out and flying out in the remainder of his at-bats. He's now played in extended spring games on back-to-back days, and it appears his hamstring has been responding well to the extra work. If all goes as planned, Tex should make his return to the Yankees' lineup Sunday.(RotoWire, )

News: Teixeira (hamstring) played three innings of an extended spring training game Thursday, George A. King of the New York Post reports. After experiencing no trouble, Teixeira stated, "I'll be ready to play Sunday and disappointed if I don't." Impact: Teixeira first showcased his progress when taking batting practice Sunday, and all signs are pointing to the slugger being ahead of schedule in his rehab from a strained hamstring. The Yankees' brass has yet to comment to confirm his statement, but it's now looking as though this Sunday is the more likely return date, rather than the initial prediction of May 1.(RotoWire, )

News: Teixeira (hamstring) took batting practice Sunday before the Yankees' win over the Red Sox. "He is hitting on the field today, which is, to me, a really good sign," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. "He did some light jogging on the field yesterday, which is good. I don't imagine it will be a whole lot longer, as long as he continues to progress running." Impact: Teixeira could return as early as April 20, and he's getting closer to that date than his originally-projected May 1 return date.(RotoWire, )

News: Teixeira (hamstring) said he expects to return from the DL next Sunday, Andrew Marchand of ESPNNewYork.com reports. Impact: Take Teixeira's optimism with the usual grain of salt, as he's still in the initial stages of his recovery from a Grade 1 hamstring strain, and it's likely too early to tell whether he'll be ready by Apr. 20. Manager Joe Girardi just said Friday that Teixeira could return by May 1, but the 34-year-old seems to think he'll spend the minimum 15 days on the DL.(RotoWire, )

News: Manager Joe Girardi believes Teixeira (hamstring) could return by May 1, according to Newday's Erik Boland. Impact: Teixeira still hasn't begun any baseball activities, but it's been less than a week since he suffered the injury.(RotoWire, )

News: Teixeira (hamstring) has been limited to stretching and riding an exercise bike during the first week of his recovery, ESPN New York reports. Impact: While obviously not what fantasy owners want to hear, the lack of baseball activity doesn't necessarily indicate that Teixeira is behind in his recovery. He suffered the hamstring injury just one week ago, and it was deemed a Grade 1 strain, which is the least severe classification. It's still unclear whether he will be ready after the minimum 15 days, but it seems likely that he'll need at least a couple days beyond that.(RotoWire, )

News: Teixeira returned Sunday, the first day he was eligible to be activated from the 15-day disabled list. Impact: Teixeira singled in five at-bats Friday during his second extended spring training game since injuring his right leg. Teixeira hurt an adductor muscle that runs alongside the hamstring trying to make a play on a foul grounder during an April 4 game against Toronto. He is to play seven innings in extended spring Saturday.(STATS, 11:55am)
