News: Detwiler has lost his rotation spot and will pitch in long relief going forward, the Washington Post reports. Impact: Chien-Ming Wang will take over as the fifth starter. Detwiler's recent struggles gave the Nationals little choice, and if Detwiler doesn't turn things around in the bullpen, a demotion to Triple-A could even be possible.(RotoWire, )

News: Detwiler struggled again Friday, allowing three runs on five hits while walking four and striking out five over just 4.1 innings. He ended up with a no-decision in a game Washington would win, 7-4, over Atlanta. Impact: He still has a respectable 3.88 ERA based mostly on his exceptionally strong start to the season, but he has had a very difficult time throwing strikes in his most recent outings (he threw just 61 of 100 pitches for strikes in this one). He is scheduled to face Miami on the road in his next start and he needs a strong performance to solidify his claim on a rotation spot now that Chien-Ming Wang is back from the disabled list.(RotoWire, )

News: Detwiler allowed six runs in five innings of Saturday's 6-5 loss to Baltimore. Impact: Detwiler's ERA has gone up from 1.59 to 3.65 in the last three starts.(STATS, 10:19pm)

News: Detwiler struggled against the Orioles on Saturday, allowing six runs on nine hits in five innings. Impact: He allowed a pair of home runs in this one after allowing just two home runs in his previous seven starts combined. The Nationals' brass provided support prior to the game for Detwiler staying in the club's rotation through Chien-Ming Wang's return from the disabled list, and this outing will likely have little bearing on that decision.(RotoWire, )

News: Detwiler will remain in the Nationals' rotation even after Chien-Ming Wang returns from the disabled list, the Washington Times reports. Impact: "Detwiler's just throwing too well not to be in the rotation," general manager Mike Rizzo said. The Nats will send Wang to the bullpen upon activation in late May, but he might sneak his way into the rotation before long. Detwiler will probably need to maintain a high level of play to maintain his spot in the rotation through the summer.(RotoWire, )
