News: Cahill made his first bullpen appearance of the season Friday, throwing a scoreless bottom half of the 12th inning and earning the save. Impact: Cahill was recently removed from the Diamondbacks' starting rotation, but rather than being demoted to the minors, he was given the chance to stick with the big league squad as a reliever. Coming out of the bullpen for the first time in 2014, Cahill retired the side in order to earn the first save of his big league career. Although Addison Reed was charged with the blown save earlier in the game, it's unlikely Cahill will be making a run at the closers' job any time soon. However, his name may be in the mix if he can continue to pitch effectively from the pen, and Reed has a few more shaky appearances.(RotoWire, )

News: Cahill will move to the bullpen, while Michael Bolsinger is set to enter the rotation Saturday against the Dodgers. Impact: Cahill is off to a disastrous start, and while he may get a chance again later in the season, Bolsinger will join the rotation for the time being. Cahill won't have much fantasy value in a long-relief role, but he could see occasional spot starts, and the D-Backs remain shaky in the rotation.(RotoWire, )

News: Cahill's rotation spot appears to be in jeopardy, as the Diamondbacks will recall Michael Bolsinger from Triple-A Reno, Jack Magruder of FOX Sports Arizona reports. Impact: Cahill has had a horrid start to 2014, losing his first four games on his way to posting a 9.17 ERA and 2.15 WHIP. These numbers wouldn't allow any starter to keep their rotation spot for long, and although no announcement has officially been made, Cahill may soon be headed for a demotion.(RotoWire, )

News: Cahill is a candidate to lose his spot in the Diamondbacks' rotation, as the team is stretching out Josh Collmenter with intentions of giving him one of the starter's spots, the Arizona Republic's Nick Piecoro reports. Impact: Cahill and Randall Delgado are the two options to move to the bullpen, according to manager Kirk Gibson, but both players will make their next scheduled start before a decision is made. Cahill, who will start Sunday against the Dodgers, has a woeful 7.90 ERA and a 2.05 WHIP through three starts this season.(RotoWire, )

News: Cahill fell to 0-3 with a loss to the Giants on Tuesday. He was knocked around for five runs on eight hits and one walk, while striking out five over 3.2 innings. Impact: Cahill showed improvement in his last start, with just two runs allowed over six innings, but Tuesday's performance was another step backward. The 26-year-old struggled in spring training to the tune of a 6.95 ERA over five starts, and now has a 7.90 ERA through three regular-season outings.(RotoWire, )

News: Cahill became the majors' first two-game loser as a starter in Wednesday's 2-0 defeat to the Giants. Impact: Cahill gave up two runs over six innings in a major improvement over a bad effort in the land Down Under in a loss to the Dodgers in Australia on March 23.(STATS, 1:38pm)
