Bonderman has an excellent fastball. He usually pitches at 95 MPH, but will hit as high as 98 MPH on his best days. He commands his fastball well for a younger pitcher, working it effectively around the strike zone. During the first half of last season, Bonderman sometimes was too fine with his fastball early in the count, fell behind and paid for it later. He improved in that regard during the second half. His slider is another plus pitch. It has a lot of break, giving it almost a slurve look. He throws it relatively hard, in the mid-80s, and commands it well, especially when working the outer half of the plate to righthanded hitters. Bonderman sometimes has a bad habit of relying too much on his slider. His worst pitch is his changeup, but it's not really a bad pitch. He sometimes throws it too hard, but he made strides in that regard during the second half last season.
Defense
Bonderman is a good athlete who fields his position well. He pays attention to runners and is quick to the plate. His pickoff move is average, however, and baserunners can get a good jump on his delivery.
