With Boston falling toward what could be one of the most epic collapses in recent memory, a seismic shift within our top teams sees the hot Tigers shoot up three spots and the Red Sox tumble from fifth to ninth overall. Surging Tampa Bay has its eyes on a postseason spot, especially with four at Fenway starting Thursday. With every NL division race more or less wrapped up, St. Louis has a shot to close the wild-card gap, but it will have to get through Philadelphia on the road starting Friday. All that and more in this week’s MLB Power Rankings.

Boston needs to turn it around fast. And it'll be tough with Tim Wakefield, John Lackey, Andrew Miller, Kyle Weiland, Josh Beckett and Jon Lester pitching the next seven games, especially with Wakefield or Lackey getting the nod twice during that stretch.
