--OF Bobby Abreu and the Angels agreed to a two-year, $19 million deal on Nov. 5, and he gave up a chance to return to the free agent market. He was a free agent last winter but failed to land a lucrative deal, finally signing a one-year contract with the Angels for a guaranteed $5 million. He wound up making an extra $1 million in incentives in what was an extremely productive season: .293, 15 homers, 103 RBIs, 30 steals.

--With the Yankees' victory in the World Series, the team that eliminated the Angels from the playoffs has gone on to win the World Series in four of their past five playoff appearances -- 2004 (Red Sox), 2005 (White Sox), 2007 (Red Sox) and 2009 (Yankees).

--OF Torii Hunter is co-hosting a two-day event in Phoenix with Diamondbacks OF Justin Upton Nov. 10-11. The Torii Hunter Celebrity Golf Classic will feature stars from the sports and entertainment fields, including Angels LHP Scott Kazmir. The event will raise money for the Torii Hunter Project among other charities focused on youth and educational issues.

--OF Bobby Abreu played 152 games during the regular season, the 12th consecutive season he has appeared in at least 150 games. Only four other players have appeared in 150 or more games over 12 consecutive seasons -- Willie Mays (13), Billy Williams, Pete Rose and Cal Ripken Jr.

--3B Chone Figgins led the American League with 101 walks this season. He is the first Angel with 100 walks since Troy Glaus (107) in 2001 and the first to lead the AL in walks since Brian Downing (106) tied with Boston's Dwight Evans in 1987.

--LHP Brian Fuentes led the majors with 48 saves. He is just the second left-hander in baseball history to have 30-save seasons in both the American League and National League (Randy Myers), and also set the record for most saves by a pitcher in his first season with a team (topping Joe Borowski's 45 with the 2007 Indians).

BY THE NUMBERS: 883 -- Runs scored by the Angels in 2009 (a club record).

QUOTE TO NOTE: "There's guys in this room we feel want to come back, and certainly we want to bring guys back. That doesn't always lead to guys coming back. We'll have to see how things unfold." -- Manager Mike Scioscia, on the team's seven potential free agents.
