METS: SPONSOR STOLE SIGNS

Not only did the Mets get shortchanged by their bullpen, one of their official sponsors is stiffing them as well, according to a new lawsuit.

The Amazin's are suing a Canadian marketing company that hasn't paid for more than $500,000 of advertising at Shea Stadium.

Vancouver's Alphatrade became an "Official Sponsor of the New York Mets " in early 2007, agreeing to pay $1,050,000 to place signs in Shea for two seasons.

The deal also gave Alphatrade the "right to display customized messages on the Pitch Speed LED Scoreboards during inning breaks," said the suit, filed in Queens Supreme Court.

Their billboards were hung at press-box level in left and right fields.

The suit claims the firm blew three separate partial-payment deadlines for the 2008 season: $100,000 on April 1, $225,000 on July 1 and $225,000 on Sept.1.

Met lawyer Gerard Sweeney and Alphatrade spokesman Mike Jackson declined to comment.
