RAIN DELAY THEATER...
by Jeff Schuler , The Hog Blog
* Brian Mazone is finally back in action with Albuquerque, throwing 1.1 scoreless innings?the other night.?If you remember Mazone's potential major league debut for the Phillies a few years ago was wiped out when?the Phillies were rained?out the night before he was scheduled to pitch, eliminating the need for a spot starter.?His hard-luck tale continued this spring, when he basically earned a spot as the situational?lefty out of the Dodger bullpen before developing an abcess on his right buttock that became badly infected. The treatment, according to MLB.com,?required an incision wound be left open to prevent a recurring infection which?also prevented Mazone from pitching.
* His Isotopes teammate, Valentino Pascucci, is hitting .284 after a slow start with 2 homers and 11 RBIs in 20 games.
* J.D. Durbin is listed as having signed with?the Dodgers but has not appeared anywhere in their system.
* Brandon Watson is hitting .351 with Reno (PCL), San Diego's affiliate.
* The Padres loaned Chris Snelling to Monterrey of the Mexican League, where he is hitting .347 in 20 games. Jon Knott is hitting .293 with two homers, 9 RBIs in 15 games for Notre in the same league, and Oscar Robles -- whose father was returned safely after he was kidnapped last week in Tijuanna -- is hitting .304 in 32 games for the Mexico City Red Devils.
* John Suomi, grabbed by Kansas City in th eminor league rule 5 draft last winter, is hitting ..314 with three homers in 12 games for Double-A Northwest Arkansas.
That's all for now. Time to watch some Baseball.
