Clint Hurdle was fired Friday as manager of the Colorado Rockies, according to major-league sources.

Bench coach Jim Tracy will replace Hurdle as the interim manager for the remainder of the season.

Hurdle, who was in the final year of his contract, led the Rockies in their surprising run to the World Series in 2007. Colorado was swept by the Red Sox in that series.

The Rockies have struggled mightily this season. The team has the second-worst record in all of baseball, better only than the Nationals.

Tracy previously managed the Dodgers from 2001-2005 and the Pirates from 2006-2007.
