Time for change
After watching Chris Duncan hit into another double play and take a third strike with the bases loaded Wednesday night, I wonder what Tony La Russa is thinking by continuing to put him in the lineup. Duncan is a mediocre outfielder at best, and looks terrible at the plate. Do we keep from trading him because no other team wants him? Or is the La Russa/Dave Duncan relationship that strong that it affects the outcome of games? It is time for Cardinal management to step up to the plate and make a change.

Hitting the Mark
I have been admittedly hard on ( Cardinals GM) John Mozeliak over the last year, and I believe rightfully so. However, I am more than pleased to offer Mozeliak and the ownership due props for stepping up and getting Mark DeRosa. As DeRosa stated at his news conference, he is a piece to the puzzle. Now, I urge Mozeliak to stand by his comments and not take a "lunch break" or stand on his laurels. Let's go get Holliday, or a solid pitcher. Great job on the DeRosa acquisition!

Skip's routine works
Some guys say they don't like Skip Schumaker tightening his batting gloves before every pitch. Some other guys say that's his routine, he's getting in a zone, visualizing a base hit, or maybe mind-melding with Yoda. Whatever the reason, he's batting .295 and has averaged .298 in five seasons with the Cardinals . Perhaps tightening his gloves is simply his way of focusing, but I like to think he's doing it just to irritate the guys who whine about it.

St. Louis needs Rams
I want to thank Bryan Burwell for writing good things about keeping the Rams here. Some people tend to be negative about football here and it is usually the non- or bandwagon fans that make dumb comments. St. Louis County official Mike Jones says football is not oxygen - duh! Why say that? From the looks of TV or even the paper, the Rams want to get out of town and no one cares. Well, a lot of people do care - 50,000+ PSL holders to start. Football is an industry, jobs, No. 1 sport in popularity. I'm afraid STL is going to cut its own throat again!
