The San Francisco Giants haven't won since the last time they gave the ball to Madison Bumgarner.
In fact, they've won each of the last four times they've done that.
Bumgarner looks to continue his dominance both overall and at home Saturday and end the Giants' longest losing streak of the season when they continue their series against the Milwaukee Brewers.
San Francisco (12-14) has lost four straight games since Bumgarner (4-1, 2.53 ERA) tossed a gem in Sunday's 4-1 win over San Diego. He yielded one run in a season-high 7 2-3 innings, lowering his ERA to 1.61 during a personal four-start winning streak.
"I feel good," Bumgarner said. "Like I've been saying, I'm just trying to make pitches. It's been working. The more quality pitches I can throw limits the damage."
With another win Saturday, the 22-year-old left-hander would match the longest winning streak of his career, set last Aug. 26-Sept. 16.
"It's obvious we think a lot of Madison and what he's done since he got up here, and he's just going to get better and better," manager Bruce Bochy said. "For a kid his age, it's impressive to see how he throws the ball. I'm not surprised to see what he's done the first month."
Bochy has watched Bumgarner dazzle over his last 12 home outings, going 10-1 with a 1.83 ERA. That stretch includes a 2-1 win over Milwaukee (12-14) on July 24, when Bumgarner gave up one run while striking out eight in 7 2-3 innings.
He's 2-1 with a 1.27 ERA in three career starts versus the Brewers.
San Francisco may need another strong performance from him if they're going to avoid losing five in a row. The Giants' slide reached four games Friday, as they dropped the series opener 6-4.
Buster Posey had an RBI single in the loss, and is hitting .464 with four homers and 10 RBIs in eight career games against the Brewers.
Milwaukee catcher Jonathan Lucroy, meanwhile, has two hits - including a triple Friday - in each of his last two games after batting .194 over his previous 11.
Randy Wolf (2-2, 6.84) takes the mound for the Brewers looking to win a third consecutive start after going 0-2 with an 8.80 ERA in his first three outings of 2012.
The left-hander allowed three runs while scattering nine hits and three walks in five innings of Monday's 8-3 win at San Diego.
"I still kind of stink," Wolf told the Brewers' official website. "It's really frustrating, mentally, because my stuff was the same. I know I'm trying to be too perfect. That's a mental battle that I need to conquer."
Wolf is 3-1 with a 1.53 ERA in his last seven starts at San Francisco, but lost his most recent visit July 23, allowing three runs in six innings of a 4-2 defeat.
Giants outfielder Angel Pagan, batting .309 during a career-high 18-game hitting streak, is 6 for 15 off Wolf.
