D-backs RF Parra hurt diving for drive in 8th
NEW YORK (AP)
Parra raced into the spacious gap at Citi Field and dived toward the fence in front of Arizona's bullpen, getting his glove on Mets shortstop Omar Quintanilla's line drive. But the ball hit off the heel and he crashed to the turf hard, his head snapping into the red clay. Quintanilla ended up with a triple.
Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson and several players stood by as a trainer and two EMTs treated Parra for several minutes. Parra first lay face down then rose to one knee. After drinking some water, the 2011 Gold Glove winner stood and leaned against the fence before crouching again.
He eventually got up and walked off the field.
