HBO to air documentary about Jeter
Just four hits to go to reach the 3,000-hit milestone.

NEW YORK (AP)
Though he has tried to downplay his pursuit of 3,000 hits, New York Yankees' Derek Jeter announced Tuesday he will allow HBO and Major League Baseball to document the historic moment.
HBO will air a one-hour special titled "Derek Jeter 3K" just weeks after he reaches his 3,000th hit. The five-time World Series champion is six hits shy of joining the exclusive club.
"It has been a lot of fun working with HBO Sports and MLB Productions to capture this milestone in a special and unique way," Jeter said in a statement. "Hopefully fans will enjoy getting to see a sneak peek at the journey."
Jeter let the MLB cameras into his home and allowed them to follow him throughout his rehabilitation from a calf injury. Jeter came off the disabled list Monday night and was 0-for-4 in a loss to the Indians.
The special will also include interviews with Yankees co-owner Hal Steinbrenner, general manager Brian Cashman, manager Joe Girardi, former skipper Joe Torre, teammates Curtis Granderson and Mariano Rivera, and fiancee Minka Kelly.
"The 3,000-hit plateau is one of the most recognizable feats in our great game," Yankees President Randy Levine said. "To have the days surrounding Derek's remarkable achievement chronicled by Major League Baseball Productions and HBO ensures that this historic milestone will be captured with the type of style and professionalism he has become so synonymous with."
The Yankees' next two games are in Cleveland, then the Bronx Bombers return home for a four-game series Thursday night against the Tampa Bay Rays.
