Dunn has yet to receive offer from Nats

If the Nationals truly want to keep first baseman Adam Dunn, they have yet to make that intention clear.
The Nats have not offered Dunn a contract extension in any form, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.
“They’ve never made one proposal,” the source said.
Nationals officials repeatedly have stated that they want to re-sign Dunn, who is a free agent at the end of the season.
Some in the industry believe the team will make a last-minute offer to Dunn before the non-waiver trade deadline at 4 p.m. Saturday — and then trade Dunn if he does not accept.
With no indication of progress toward an agreement, the market for Dunn almost certainly will heat up in the coming days.
The White Sox have been the most serious suitor, but sources say the Tigers, Rangers and Yankees maintain some level of interest, as well.
And while the White Sox remain focused on Dunn, one source indicated they are laying the groundwork for the pursuit of a starting pitcher.
Chicago rookie Daniel Hudson has a 6.32 ERA in three starts since replacing the injured Jake Peavy. Hudson is set to start Friday. If he struggles again, the White Sox could pick up their pursuit of a starter in the hours before the deadline.
Dunn, 30, hit 40 or more home runs in six straight seasons before finishing with 38 last season. He currently is on pace to hit 38, and his percentage stats are among the best of his career.
Dunn’s .281 batting average would represent a career-high, and his .
565 slugging percentage would be his highest since 2004.
His .935 OPS ranks fourth in the NL.
