Source: MacDonald to join Padres staff
The Padres are expected to name Chad MacDonald as their new vice president and assistant general manager, a major-league source told FOXSports.com.
MacDonald had most recently worked as the amateur scouting director of the New York Mets. He will now replace Jason McLeod, who left his front-office post with the Padres to join Jed Hoyer in the Chicago Cubs front office.
MacDonald has close ties to new San Diego general manager Josh Byrnes, having worked under Byrnes with the Arizona Diamondbacks from 2006 through 2010.
Vice president of professional scouting A.J. Hinch and director of baseball operations Josh Stein are expected to continue in their current roles.
