Seattle's Morse leaves game in 5th inning
Right fielder Michael Morse has left the Seattle Mariners game against the San Diego Padres after sustaining a right quadriceps strain on a play in which he was thrown out trying to score from first base on a double.
Morse was lifted Tuesday night in the top of the fifth inning. Morse became the second out of the bottom of the fourth after he was thrown out at home plate trying to score on a double from Michael Saunders. Morse was laboring as he reached third and was grimacing as he attempted to score after getting waved home by third base coach Daren Brown. Morse was easily thrown out.
Morse is day to day. He was replaced in the lineup by Jason Bay.
Morse missed three games in April with a small fracture in his right little finger.
