Dodgers bid big on South Korean lefty

The Los Angeles Dodgers have bid nearly $26 million for a chance to sign pitcher Ryu Hyun-jin, a major league baseball source confirmed to FOXSports.com on Saturday.
The Hanwha Eagles of the Korea Baseball Organization said they have accepted a posting fee of $25.7 million for the 25-year-old left-hander.

When it comes to predicting division winners, Ken Rosenthal and Jon Morosi only agree on one thing.The Chicago Cubs and Texas Rangers were among the clubs also thought to be interested in Ryu.
The Dodgers now have 30 days to negotiate a contract with Ryu, who was 98-52 with a 2.80 career ERA during seven seasons in South Korea. He pitched on national teams that won a gold medal at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 and reached the championship game of the 2009 World Baseball Classic.
The $25.7 million fee will be paid to the Eagles only if\ Ryu signs with the Dodgers, who must balance signing him with other options for the rotation. Last winter, the Rangers gave Darvish a six-year, $56 million contract after submitting a record $51,703,411 posting bid to the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters.
With Ryu possibly stepping in as a No. 3 or 4 starter, would the money be better spent on other free agents?
In other words, they can give him tens of millions on top of paying the $25.7 posting fee if they think that is better investment than say, Anibal Sanchez or some of other starters.
The Dodgers are pursuing multiple avenues, including Hiroki Kuroda and Sanchez. They're also expected to pursue Zack Greinke too.
