Rays infielder Will Rhymes has been listed day-to-day following an incident where he fainted at first base after being hit flush on the right forearm by Red Sox pitcher Franklin Morales on Wednesday night.
A wincing Rhymes was tended to after being struck by the 95mph fastball in the eighth inning, then made it to first base — where he collapsed in the arms of first base coach George Hendrick.
The 29-year-old was carted off the field for further treatment after regaining consciousness.
The Rays said in a statement later that X-rays on Rhymes' arm had come back negative.
"Will Rhymes is day-to-day with a right forearm contusion," the statement said. "He fainted shortly [after being hit] due to an adrenaline rush ... He was treated at Tropicana Field and did not go to the hospital."
The Rays went on to win the game against Boston 2-1.
Rhymes is batting .283 with the Rays this season.
