Bases on balls don't always kill you. At least Detroit manager Jim Leyland will tell you that because his critical move of intentionally walking both catcher Joe Mauer and first baseman Justin Morneau in the 11th inning turned out to be a key piece of...

SPRTSNUT...edwin is a beast.....his pitch count was up around 120....but he still looked real good. He got pulled for Seay when lefties M&M came up. So not a bad move actually.....except Seay didnt do his job.

Problem yesterday (other than umps) was hitting (AGAIN). If Mags doesnt hit his homer,we probably would got shutout. Need a trade for a slugger before a relief pitcher trade. DD needs to do a deal with a cellar dweller team for a young stud pronto.

How many times are we going to blow a solid performance from Edwin Jackson. God i feel bad for the guy. He must be thinking what do i have to do to get a W.

tough game to lose yesterday--- i agree the ump blew the call, but it also casts the ongoing floodlight on our need for closers. are we shopping? i know our bullpen was shot, but we hurt even when it's not. What about Huston Street from the Rockies???? We need to take the series with a win today. Porcello can get it done if we give him a little lumber support.

Ump blew call on Morales.....4th pitch was a clear strike. Instead he stays alive to get an inf sac moving Tolbert to 2nd....then Tolbert scores on Punto single. If the ump makes the right call, Tolbert ends up on 2nd after the Punto single instead of scoring.

TIGERSBROWN....Agree with you about Leyland pulling French too quick.....Miner doesnt seem to work as well with a big lead.
PJAMES....We're on the same page for that slugger roster move...How about Zimmerman/Nats or Markakis/Os....both mid 20s and 290 hitters

PJAMES: I agree with your idea. I mentioned Dunn a few weeks ago but some1 shot it down saying he strikes out to much and his BA is always around .260...but I will give him this, he walks a ton, over 60 free bases so far this season and he already has at least 20 HR's...lets throw Ordonez in the trade offer as well...

happy 4th of july to all my tigers buds !!

liked : i liked leyland's decision to intentionallywalk mauer & morneau
back-to-back ... it paid off with zumaya striking out cuddyer.

GO TIGERS !!!!

didn't like : didn't like leyland pullin' french with 1 more out to qualify for the win ,
then watchin' miner give up the lead ... i know this was a big game , but c'mon.

Wondering what kind of Roster moves the Tigers might be considering. In my oppinion, the Tigers need a bid LH Bat in the lineup and I am thinking the perfect fit would be Adam Dunn. Do not know what the Tigers would have to offer to get him in a trade, but it would seem to be a good fit. He can platoon with Thames at DH or if Maglio continues to struggle he can play RF regularly. I am thinking that a trade perhaps involving Clete Thomas might be workable
