Ketel Marte - Begins running Marte (hamstring) has begun a running program, MLB.com reports.

Impact Marte began swinging a bat a week ago and has moved to the next step in his recovery. There's still no word of when the second baseman can begin a rehab assignment. The Diamondbacks are getting by with a combination of Tim Tawa and Garrett Hampson at the keystone.

Alek Thomas - Producing offensively Thomas went 2-for-5 with two runs scored in Wednesday's 7-6 loss to the Rays.

Impact Thomas has given the Diamondbacks a competent bat at the end of the order and is slashing .279/.338/.393 with five extra-base hits, 10 RBI, three steals and nine runs scored over 68 plate appearances. His offense had been a question mark over his first three seasons in the majors, as Thomas has never hit higher than .231, but his consistency thus far may have made the team more comfortable in its decision to demote Jake McCarthy to Triple-A Reno. With McCarthy off the roster, Thomas becomes the primary starter in center field. If he improves against left-handers, Thomas could be an everyday player.

Impact While it wasn't a save situation in a 5-5 game, fantasy managers should still be pleased to see the hard-throwing right-hander look sharp in his return to action. It was Martinez's first appearance since last Thursday due to right shoulder fatigue, and he should be ready to reclaim the closer's role for the time being in the absence of A.J. Puk (elbow). Through his first eight innings of the season, Martinez has converted both of his save opportunities while allowing just three hits, one walk and no runs en route to producing a pristine 11:1 K:BB.

Impact Carroll enjoyed his second two-homer game of the month and the sixth of his career Wednesday, opening the scoring with a solo shot in the first inning and launching a go-ahead two-run blast in the seventh. The star outfielder got off to a brutal start in 2024, but he's looked every bit the part of a first-round fantasy asset in the early going of 2025. Through 114 plate appearances, Carroll is slashing .327/.404/.693 with nine round trippers, 22 RBI, 23 runs scored and four stolen bases.

Impact It was a mixed bag by the left-hander, who matched a season high with four runs allowed but did turn in his longest outing of the year in innings pitched. Rodriguez has worked at least five innings in each of his first five starts of the campaign, submitting a strong 1.29 WHIP and 34:7 K:BB in spite of a 4.40 ERA through his first 28.2 innings. Although the quality of his pitching appears to be better than his ERA suggests, Rodriguez could have a hard time improving on those numbers in a tough spot in New York against the Mets for his next scheduled appearance.

He could be activated from the 15-day injured list at some point next week.

Justin Martinez - Battling shoulder fatigue Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Tuesday that Martinez is dealing with right shoulder fatigue, Jack Sommers of SI.com reports.

Impact Lovullo went on to say that it "could be" a dead arm phase for Martinez, who is "very, very close" to 100 percent. Martinez has not pitched since April 17, but Lovullo is hopeful the reliever will be available out of the bullpen Wednesday against the Rays. If Martinez is unavailable, Shelby Miller, Drey Jameson, Jalen Beeks and Ryan Thompson are candidates to see a potential save chance for the Diamondbacks.
