News: Dye said his first choice for a 2010 team would be the White Sox, but he said he realizes the financial aspects of the game may prevent that from happening, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Impact: "I talked to [general manager] Kenny [Williams] and negotiations could still go on," Dye said. "Kenny talked to me about the fact that his hands are tied as far as spending money, but you never know, I could sign for less." The Sox bought out Dye's 2010 mutual option last week, and it is unclear how much the team could offer him after taking on Jake Peavy's and Alex Rios' contracts last season. Texas and Boston both reportedly have interest in Dye, and both would be good fits. 

News: Jenks has been ruled out for the rest of the regular season with a pulled calf muscle.
Impact: The injury ends a solid fantasy season for Jenks. He finishes with a 3-4 record and 3.71 ERA while converting 29 of 35 save opportunities. Despite being productive, the right-hander saw his save total drop for a third consecutive season since posting a career-high 41 in 2006. 

News: Dotel filed for free agency Monday, according to the Whtie Sox' official site.
Impact: No big surprise here, as the Sox said previously they were going to go in other directions for bullpen help. But they may be tempted to offer him arbitration now, as Elias Sports Bureau has ruled him a Type A free agent. It will be interesting to see if that designation bears the Dotel market. 

News: A source tells the Chicago Sun-Times that the White Sox and Podsednik's representation have resumed contract negotiations.
Impact: Podsednik was a good fit for the White Sox in 2009, racking up 130-plus games for the first time since 2006, and hitting .304 to go with 30 steals. That said, it's tough to imagine the Sox expending too many years or resources on the soon-to-be-34-year-old. 

News: Contract talks between Podsednik and the White Sox have not gone well and he may be headed elsewhere next season, ESPN Chicago reports.
Impact: There was some talk he could re-sign with the White Sox rather than become a free agent, but it looks like Chicago will at least shop around for outfield help before deciding to bring Podsednik back. 

News: Gordon Beckham has been slated to start at second base for the White Sox in 2010, according to MLB.com.
Impact: This news comes after the Sox traded Chris Getz and Josh Fields to Kansas City to acquire Mark Teahen, who will start at third base.  

News: Chicago general manager Ken Williams said Beckham would be switched from third to second base next season.
Impact: Beckham was a star shortstop at the University of Georgia before being a first-round pick in 2008 and was OK with the change. 

News: The Chicago White Sox have acquired Teahen in a trade from the Kansas City Royals for infielders Chris Getz and Josh Fields. The White Sox also get cash considerations.
Impact: Teahen batted .271 with a 12 home runs and 50 RBI in 144 games with the Royals in 2009. He made 99 starts at third base, 31 in right field and three at second. 

News: The deal sending Mark Teahen to the White Sox in exchange for Chris Getz and Josh Fields is now official, according to MLBTradeRumors.com.
Impact: The deal is finalized on the same day the White Sox officially decline Jermaine Dye's option for 2010. It looks like Teahen will be the team's right fielder next season.  

News: The White Sox have declined the mutual option on veteran right fielder and former Dye, clearing the way for him to become a free agent. Dye will get a buyout of $950,000 instead of $12 million he could have gotten in salary next season.
Impact: Dye, the World Series MVP in 2005 for the White Sox, signed a two-year, $22 million extension late in the 2007 season. This year, the 35-year-old Dye batted .250 with 27 home runs and 81 RBI in 141 games. Dye has also played with the Braves, Royals and Athletics. In 14 major league seasons, he has batted .274 with 325 homers and 1,072 RBIs. In five seasons with the White Sox, he batted .278 with 164 homers and 461 RBI. 

News: As expected, the White Sox have bought out Jermaine Dye's 2010 mutual option, according to MLB.com.
Impact: The move allows him to file for free agency. The Sox are not expected to offer him arbitration. Early possibilities for a 2010 team for Dye seem to be the Giants and Rangers.  

News: Teahen will take over everyday third base duties for the White Sox after his trade from Kansas City, GM Ken Williams told 670 AM in Chicago.
Impact: Gordon Beckham will move over to second base as a result. 

News: Teahen has officially been traded to the White Sox from Kansas City for Chris Getz and Josh Fields, the Royal's official web site reports. The Royals also sent cash in the deal.
Impact: The trade was widely reported on Thursday, but then later denied by both teams. After all the back and forth, it pretty much looks like the same deal that was initially reported except for the cash involved. Teahen could move into a starting job with the White Sox with Chicago declining to pick up Jermaine Dye's option for 2010. 

News: The White Sox bought out Dye's 2010 option for $950,000, making him a free agent, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Impact: This seemed inevitable and the rumors of a trade for Mark Teahen added fuel to the idea the White Sox are shopping for a replacement. Dye hit just .179/.293/.297 in the second half last season. Still, he hit 27 home runs and will find several suitors despite a down season. 

News: The White Sox will probably not bring Dotel back for the 2010 season, the team's official site reports.
Impact: He has yet to file for free agency, but his two-year deal with the team has expired. Dotel's 1.44 WHIP from 2009 was his highest in a full season since 2000, and his 10.8 K/9 fell from 12.4 the year before. Still, solid bullpen arms remain at a premium, regardless of age, so he should not be unemployed for long. 

News: Castro filed for free agency Thursday, the White Sox' official site reports.
Impact: It is unclear to this point if the Sox will offer him a contract. He was fairly underwhelming after the Mets traded him to the White Sox, hitting .184/.262/.382 in 31 games. If they do bring him back, he would just be keeping the seat warm for Tyler Flowers. 

News: Podsednik filed for free agency Thursday, the White Sox' official site reports.
Impact: The Sox should offer him a deal before he hits the open market. Podsednik was at times the team's most valuable hitter, hitting .304/.353/.412 in 587 plate appearances and stealing 30 bases. If the Sox decide not bring him back, he could slide in as a fourth outfielder elsewhere, or as a leadoff man for a budget-conscious squad. 

News: The trade of Teahan to the White Sox for Chris Getz and Josh Fields has not been confirmed by the Royals, the Kansas City Star reports. "There is nothing to announce yet, and we won't comment (about trade rumors) until there is something to announce," Royals general manager Dayton Moore said. However, WDAF-TV in Kansas City reports the Royals have confirmed the trade.
Impact: The New York Post initially reported the trade and the New York Daily News added unnamed confirmation from the White Sox. However, neither club is on the record confirming the deal. But neither club has denied the deal either, so it may just be a matter of time before the trade is finalized. 

News: The White Sox have agreed to terms on a one-year, $1.5-million contract with free agent Kotsay.
Impact: The 33-year-old Kotsay hit .278 with four home runs and 23 RBI in 67 games combined with Boston and the White Sox last season. 

News: The Chicago White Sox have announced that the team has reached on agreement on a one-year, $1.5 million deal with Mark Kotsay, according to reporter Joe Cowley. Kotsay is expected to be a key reserve for the team next season.
Impact: Kotsay was a favorite of manager Ozzie Guillen, so it comes as no surprise that he will be back for another season. He won't hold any fantasy value as a reserve, but he will be a nice piece for the Sox to use off the bench. 

News: The New York Daily News is reporting that the Chicago White Sox have acquired Mark Teahen from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for Chris Getz and Josh Fields. Teahen hit .271 with 12 homers and 50 RBI last season.
Impact: Interesting move here for the Sox, as Teahen is coming off a sub-par year by his standards. He is a career .277 hitter with 12 homers and 41 RBI against the Sox in his career, so maybe they just got sick of facing him. He is expected to replace Jermaine Dye as the everyday right fielder for the Sox. 

News: Kotsay re-signed with the White Sox on Thursday, one year for $1.5 million, ESPN-AM 1000 in Chicago reports.
Impact: The White Sox like Kotsay as a nice number four outfielder who they can use to give a breather for their starters and a left-handed bat off the bench. The 33-year-old Kotsay hit .278 with four home runs and 23 RBI in 67 games combined with Boston and the White Sox last season. Chicago acquired him from the Red Sox on July 28 in exchange for outfielder Brian Anderson. In 40 games with the White Sox, the left-handed hitting Kotsay batted .292 with three home runs and 18 RBIs. 

News: Teahan was traded to the White Sox by the Royals on Thursday for infielders Chris Getz and Josh Fields, the Sporting News reports.
Impact: Teahan is expected to replace Jermaine Dye as Chicago's right fielder. 

News: Dye probably will not be back with the White Sox for 2010 after the South Siders picked up Mark Teahen from the Royals for Josh Fields and Chris Getz on Thursday, ESPN-AM 1000 in Chicago reports.
Impact: While Teahen played some third base, he also spent a good chunk of time in the outfield. Dye and the Sox have a mutual option for 2010, but the team is unlikely to hold up their end of the deal after Dye hit .179 over the second half of the season. 

News: Teahen was reportedly traded Thursday by the Royals to the White Sox for third baseman Josh Fields and second baseman Chris Getz, ESPN-AM 1000 in Chicago reports.
Impact: During the 2009 regular season Teahen was part of trade discussions with several teams, especially at the trade deadline, but the Royals held onto him. The White Sox could use Teahen in the outfield, which might mean the end of Jermaine Dye in the South Side. 

News: Floyd is reporting no ongoing pain in his sore hip, the White Sox' official website reports.
Impact: Floyd last pitched about seven weeks ago and the rest seems to have helped. "It feels great. It's definitely progressively gotten better," Floyd said. "I haven't tested it out off of the mound, but just from moving around and everything, it feels pretty much back to normal." Floyd is expected to resume throwing in late December; and if all goes well, the White Sox hope to get him back on the mound by the end of January.
