News: Kenseth won the second segment of the All-Star Challenge at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Saturday night. Impact: Kenseth got a break when Carl Edwards' No. 99 Ford had an engine failure that brought out the caution flag during the second segment. The restart with 10 laps to go made for a good sprint to run down leader Denny Hamlin, who was on old tires. Kenseth earns the second starting spot going into the pits for the final 10-lap segment.(RotoWire, )

News: Despite sponsorship issues, Kenseth's future is secure at Roush Fenway Racing. Team owner Jack Roush said Monday that the 2003 Sprint Cup champion, in the final year of his current contract, will have a ride with RFR as long as he wants one, ESPN.com reports. Impact: "Matt Kenseth is a cornerstone of Roush Fenway and he'll be part of it as long as I am, as long as he wants to be," Roush said. "He certainly has a place here as long as I'm able to stay at the head of it." The No. 17 team still lacks sponsorship, but the Roush stance behind Kenseth is very firm. The organization has made it clear they want to have the veteran driver in the fold for the foreseeable future.(RotoWire, )

News: Roush Fenway Racing's Kenseth and Carl Edwards finished sixth and seventh to lead RFR's effort in Saturday night's Southern 500 Sprint Cup race at Darlington Raceway, roushfenway.com reports. Impact: It was one of Kenseth's better Darlington outings in some time. He didn't lead any laps, but he maintained a presence in the Top 15 the entire night at the South Carolina oval. Kenseth used a late push to collect his seventh Top-10 finish of the season. The veteran driver heads into the All-Star break second in the overall driver standings at 2 points behind teammate Greg Biffle.(RotoWire, )
