Carl didn’t get into trouble, and he knocked off his third-straight top 10 finish. Edwards is suddenly putting some distance of his own on the Chase cutoff line, and currently sits 10th in the standings.

Junior was having a mediocre day before problems in front of him turned it into a bad one. He’s shown signs of breaking out, but lacks the consistency to be a legit title threat I think. Best thing for Junior to do at Pocono: Survive.

They are not talked about much anymore, but “phantom debris” cautions still impact races, as they did at Indy. I counted two of the six cautions in the 400 were for “phantom debris”, including the one that shook up the field and put Juan Pablo Montoya in mid-pack late in the race. Just keep an eye on them.

Bowyer is showing some muscle under pressure and is starting to separate himself from the Chase cutoff line. He’ll need to keep the momentum up at Pocono, and seeing as he’s fond of the place, that shouldn’t be too difficult.

Jimmie was so bad, Travis Kvapil kept passing him. But seeing as he hasn’t won in three races and the circuit is heading to a track nobody really likes, I’d say J.J. is about due for a win.
