NASCAR Chase for the Sprint Cup drivers enjoyed differing fates Sunday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

While Tony Stewart won his second race in a row, others found themselves faltering along the way.

Here's a look at how each Chaser fared at New Hampshire:

Started 20th, finished first: Slowly and steadily making his way through the field, Stewart rode second with 35 laps to go. As leader Clint Bowyer tried to conserve fuel, Stewart stayed close enough to force him to actually race. The strategy paid off as Bowyer ran out, Stewart took the lead and cruised to the finish for the win. That's two wins in two Chase races for Stewart, who took the points lead.

Started sixth, finished 12th: On Lap 174, Harvick pitted for fuel only while the top nine stayed on the track. He restarted in 10th. Harvick pitted for the final time with 62 laps to go. Harvick didn't finish as well as he ran at points and ended the day surrendering the points lead. He trails Tony Stewart by seven points.
 

Started 16th, finished second: Keselowski led a lap as Jeff Gordon made his final stop with 71 laps to go, then came in for his own final planned trip down pit road. He worked his way through the field and into the top 10 late in the race before surging to a second-place finish.
 

Started 23rd, finished eighth: Racing teammate Matt Kenseth for 15th, Edwards tagged Kenseth’s inside left rear and caused his teammate to spin. Edwards’ effort was not hampered, and he immediately radioed to ask his team to let Kenseth know it was a true accident. Edwards went on to earn a top-10 finish and aid his Chase effort.
 

Started seventh, finished fourth: Gordon took the long way to a good finish. He led a lap early as he took the top spot during a pit sequence, securing the bonus point. He benefited from a caution on Lap 156. He was due for a pit stop and needed some changes to his car, so he completed his stop under yellow-flag conditions. He would later race his way to the front and lead for 79 laps. With 71 laps to go, Gordon gave up the lead for a four-tire, green-flag pit stop. It was a rather long stop for the driver, who appeared to have run out of fuel. Gordon was then asked to save fuel over the last 35 laps after a fueling problem on the stop. He was running third, but backed off the throttle a bit for a while.

Started eighth, finished 11th: While he raced inside the top 10 for much of the event, Busch certainly didn’t have the day he planned. He made his final stop with 69 laps to go and tried to make a final push from there. With 21 laps to go, Busch found himself in a tight battle with Johnson for position. The two made contact and both wiggled dramatically before saving their cars.
 

Started 27th, finished sixth: Racing teammate Carl Edwards for 15th position, Kenseth suffered the most damage after contact between the two Chase contenders, but his effort wasn't significantly slowed. The driver rallied for a top-10 Chase finish.

Started 12th, finished 17th: With 72 laps to go, and after racing among the leaders all afternoon, Earnhardt Jr. had a right front flat tire. He managed to save his car without it crashing into anything or anyone and limped down pit road.
 

Started fifth, finished 22nd: Busch got off to an anxious start as his team struggled to get his car through prerace inspection. Busch's car literally lined up during the invocation. He then led four laps during the final planned pit sequence before making his stop, garnering the bonus point awarded a leader, but then stumbled to his finish.
 

Started 10th, finished 18th: Johnson took the lead with 63 laps to go in the midst of a pit sequence, then pitted on the next lap for his own tires and fuel. Johnson almost lost it racing Joey Logano for position shortly after, but saved his car. With 21 laps to go, Johnson was aggressively racing Kyle Busch when the two made contact. Johnson slid across the track and managed to save his car once more after leaning on Busch’s.
 

Started first, finished 25th: The polesitter set a hot pace early, leading 62 laps before surrendering the top spot for a pit stop. Things went south after he lost position on the stop, though, and Newman never managed to get back into contention. He pitted with five laps to go, surrendering more position at the track where he won earlier this season.

Started 28th, finished 29th: It was another dismal Chase outing for Hamlin. With nothing to lose as he already sat 12th in the standings, Hamlin and his Joe Gibbs Racing team tried to race on one fewer pit stop than the rest of the field, skipping the Lap 174 stop and then trying to make it on one more. He thought he had conserved enough to snare fifth position — but then he ran out with three laps to go.
